Welcome (future) educators! Nationally recognized by the Council for Exceptional Children, the IU South Bend special education teacher preparation program equips future educators with the knowledge, skills, and experiences they need to transform and enhance the lives of children with disabilities. The program is designed for individuals seeking mild-intervention licensure in pre-kindergarten through grade 12 (P-12)Earn your bachelor's degree in Special Education and learn how to teach, inspire, and support youth with disabilities in grades P-12! Upon earning your Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S.Ed.) in Special Education, you will be prepared to pursue mild-intervention licensure in the State of Indiana. Special education majors can pursue a concentration in one of the following areas:

  • Early Childhood (with certification)
  • English
  • History
  • Math
  • Psychology
