Daniel Holm is the former Chair of Elementary Education and Special Education at Indiana University South Bend. Dr. Holm has taught at IU South Bend for the past 32 years and teaches courses in children's literature, English as a Second Language, reading assessment, and reading and language arts methods. Prior to teaching at IU South Bend, Dr. Holm was an elementary school teacher in California where he taught various grades, k-6. His research interests include reading and language development, using children's literature in the classroom, and exploring discourse communities. Dr. Holm received his Ph.D. in reading from the University of Arizona in 1993.
