Professional Background and Education
Dr. Hanus received his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from California Southern University and completed additional doctoral coursework in Educational Psychology from University of Illinois at Chicago. He holds a Master's degree in Counseling and a Master's degree in Vocal Music Education, both from Northeastern Illinois University, and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from North Park University.
Dr. Hanus completed post graduate clinical training and certification from The Object Relations Institute for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis of New York, and the Center for Religion & Psychotherapy in Chicago. He teaches and supervises graduate counseling practicum and internship students, supervises initially licensed clinicians, and has been in private practice for 21 years.
Dr. Hanus' clinical and research interests include psychodynamic theory, process, and technique, the impact of childhood trauma on personality development, persecutory anxiety and self sabatoge, tele-mental health, and the therapeutic/working alliance in online therapy and online education.
